Lancaster Bus Station
The New Bus Station would provide quite a shock for the waves of students and
visitors who've passed through the City over the last 50 years. Gone is the
flat, rounded brown tile architecture of the old 50's design (and thank goodness
for that! Whilst I can appreciate that some people (strange, twisted
individuals) may have a retro affection for pale brown tiles stuck all over ugly
buildings, I personally think that if they have a home, that home is at the
bottom of a large deep landfill site.
The New Bus Station is very chic, gleaming glass and stainless steel. Classic
contemporary design I would say. Now all we need is a transport policy and some
buses and we might have a public transport system that would get people out of
their cars.
Walk around it from the outside and this is what you will see ...
