Gregson Bartlett Hall Restoration Fund

Gregson Bartlett Hall Restoration Fund Raising AppealOur Main Hall in the Gregson Centre (the Bartlett Hall, built c. 1890) requires £10,000 for urgent restoration and improvement works. The roof needs over £2,000 of work to restore its integrity and prevent rain from falling on the groups and audiences inside. The internal walls need re-rendering and redecorating (£2,500) to keep pieces of plaster from falling into your beer (this is particularly important I feel, personally). And the Gregson has identified over £5,000 of essential community improvements - soundproofing to reduce local noise impact (£2,500), blackouts to provide daylight for daytime groups and better lighting for visually impaired user groups and to provide essential darkness for evening performances (£2,000), and a finally new bar layout and shutters to reduce the impact of the Hall bar out of use and reduce day and evening noise flow between Hall and Gregson cafe social areas (£1,000). Our target is to raise £10,000 over the next six months in order to carry out the work above by the start of 2008, and before next summer's rain arrives! We will be fund raising in several ways, primarily looking for grant awards and by local community and city fund raising initiatives. You can get involved and help in the easiest of ways with one of the first of our fund raising efforts by joining the Gregson Community Association Bartlett Hall Restoration Fund 100 Club (we tried GCABHRF100 as an acronym, bust finally settled on the GCA100 Club for short). Gregson 100 Club Each number costs £5 a month, you can have as many numbers as you want in
multiples of £5.
