| H0WARD HAIGH & LAVA LatinoGuitarBlues Tel 01524 849959 e-mail: howardhaigh@beeb.net ........an exciting blend of the old and the new, the familiar and the unexpected, always accessible, always entertaining. And whilst the focus is firmly on the (amplified) nylon-strung Spanish guitar, Haigh has been known to utilise a good many other sound sources: body percussion, harmonica, pan lids, vocal adventures and parts of the guitar not normally touched in polite society. LAVA: Amplified Spanish Guitar; Electric Guitar; Bass; Drums; Voices; Harmonicas; French Horn; Cheeks; Mandolin; "found" percussion. Never mind what we say - try an independent view: Here's a selection of opinions on Haigh and his music from the media: "Music of such vivacity and directness" (The Musical Times); "Thank you - it was brilliant" (BBC Radio 4); "A spirited guitarist" (The Independent); "Irrepressible" (Time Out); "A bit of alright..tuneful and varied" (Morecambe Visitor); "If you're into great guitar playing but are fed up of screeching electric solos, this could be just for you" (Muso); "Nothing short of inspired.....a musician of considerable depth." (The Lancaster Guardian); "There's no denying Howard's technical competence - every note is picked out with perfect precision.." (The Westmorland Gazette); "Mesmerising ..the power to create a storm of emotions" (Morecambe Visitor); "No superlative can do justice to this performance - just don't miss a future gig." (Grapevine). | |

| Rokasayers have been capturing the imagination of audiences all
over the UK for the past 5 years. homepage here ... http://www.introducingtheincredible.com/rokasayers.htm Their individual skills and musical vision enables them to create works of high technical ability and emotional expression. The band features turn tables, guitar, drum set, keyboards, sampler and guitar synth and bridges the gap between the traditional jazz ensemble and more contempory styles. Since their formation Rokasayers have experienced numerous rave reviews from both public and press. "Rokasayers, meanwhile, stole the whole festival. They haven't merely discovered the lost - they've unearthed a whole cluster of them. Electric guitar, keyboards, drums and turntables came together to create a haunting, kooky mish-mash that sounded like Can dismembering Thelonious Monk. Dedicating to pieces to such objects as their favourate window blind, these young men have dreamed up soundtracks to unfilmable movies, and yet they don't even have a record contract. Catch them before they beam back to their home planet" James Griffiths (The Guardian) | |
